چکیده

Dusty star-forming galaxies (DSFGs) at redshift z$\geq$1 are among the most vigorously in Universe. However, their dense ($\geq$10$^5$ cm$^{-3}$ ) gas phase - typically traced by HCN(1-0) remains almost entirely unexplored: only two DSFGs have been detected to date. We present results of a JVLA survey J=1-0 transition HCN, HCO+, and HNC(1-0) six strongly lensed z = 2.5 3.3, effectively doubling number with deep observations these lines. detect emission one source (J1202+5354, 4.4$\sigma$), tentative HCO+ (1-0) detection another (J1609+6045, 3.3$\sigma$). Spectral stacking yields strict upper limits on HCN/FIR ($\leq$3.6$\times$10$^{-4}$) HCN/CO(1-0) ratios ($\leq$0.045). The inferred (a proxy for star-formation efficiency) consistent those z$\sim$0 FIR-luminous starbursts. HCN/CO dense-gas fraction factor few lower than suggested previous DSFG detections. Our imply that low fractions. A comparison Krumholz & Thompson (2007) models indicates bulk is densities ($\approx$10$^2$ ), similar "normal" galaxies, rather ultraluminous

Nitrate and Prussic Acid Toxicity in Forage

Cooperative Extension Service • Kansas State University • Manhattan Nitrate toxicity Nitrate is a natural product formed from the oxidation of organic compounds. Most of the soil nitrogen absorbed by plant roots is in nitrate form. Normally, nitrate in a plant is rapidly converted to amino acids by the enzyme nitrate reductase. This reduction requires energy from sunlight, adequate water, nutri...

Management of Nitrate and Prussic Acid in Forage Crops

The two factors of drought conditions and export markets are focusing recent attention on nitrates and prussic acid in forages. During normal years, nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N) taken up by crops is quickly converted into protein. When forages grow under drought stress, however, they tend to accumulate nitrate. Alternative forages such as sorghums and sudans tend to accumulate even higher levels, w...

Evaluation Effect of Different level of Nitrogen and Cutting Height on Morphological Traits, Seed Protein Content and Prussic Acid Concentration of Sorghum ( Sorghum bicolor L., cv. Speed feed)

BACKGROUND: Nitrogen is a crucial component of plant nutrition, and its deficiency limits productivity of crops more than any other element. To manage the sorghum crop for achievement of maximum forage production, the farmer should be concerned about nitrogen requirement and plant height. OBJECTIVES: This research was carried out to evaluate response of m...

Photosynthesis as a Function of Light Intensity and of Temperature with Different Concentrations of Chlorophyll

1. Photosynthesis reaches its maximum rate at about the same light intensity over the whole range of chlorophyll concentrations studied. 2. Over this range the process shows the same relationship to temperature. The value of the temperature characteristic decreases gradually as the temperature rises. 3. The rate of photosynthesis is more depressed by prussic acid the lower the chlorophyll conce...

Plant Factors in Nitrate Accumulation

Nitrate Poisoning Farmers and ranchers depend on the successful combination of livestock and crops. Forage crops, in particular, are important to the producer, but they should be monitored due to plant toxicants that can be a problem. One toxicosis of concern is Nitrate (N03 ) toxicity. Nitrate toxicity of cattle was noted as early as 1895 with corn-stalk poisoning. However, at that time nitrat...
